What Honest Mirror is

Honest Mirror is an educational self-reflection tool. It analyzes the answers you yourself provide and generates a personalized Truth Report. It does not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, or clinical diagnosis, treatment, or advice.

What we collect

When you take the assessment we collect: your answers to the assessment statements, a brief safety check-in response, the time you completed the assessment, and a random pseudonymous session ID generated in your browser.

To check that you are 21 or older we ask for your date of birth once. It is used for that check and for nothing else, it is never written to our storage, never logged and never sent to anyone: all we keep is whether you passed the check and the day you took it.

The assessment itself does not ask for — and our system rejects — your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth. The optional Social Mirror asks only for the first name you choose to show the people you invite (up to 30 characters; any name you like), which we store with your pseudonymous record. It does not ask for your email; the only email field it has is one a person you invite may fill in to receive a link to start their own Mirror.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe's own secure checkout page, under Stripe's privacy policy. Your card details go to Stripe — not to us. Beyond the delivery email described below, we receive only pseudonymous payment-confirmation identifiers. We never receive or store your card number.

Report delivery

To deliver your Truth Report, we receive from Stripe the email address you confirm at checkout and use it solely to send you your private report link — one transactional email per purchase. We send no marketing or newsletters. We store only a redacted form of that address (for example a***@example.com), never the full address.

Where your data is stored

Your answers and the Truth Report generated from them are stored as pseudonymous records on servers we operate on Amazon Web Services.

Your report link

Your Truth Report is available at a private link. Anyone who has that exact link can view the report, so keep it private.

Social Mirror (optional)

After you unlock your report you can invite other people to answer one question about you. If you use it:

• Your private link. Your Social Mirror is reached only through a random link (and its QR code, which we generate on our own server). Anyone who has the link can open the invite page, so share it only with people you choose; you can regenerate it (the old link stops working) or close your Social Mirror at any time.
• Your report stays private. People who open your invite link cannot see your score, answers, report or results; they can only answer one anonymous question. To create the link we ask only for the first name you want them to see; we do not ask for your email.
• What the people you invite provide. Each person picks one answer from a list and may add a comment of up to 140 characters, and may say how they know you (friend, family, partner, work, other). We do not ask for their name. You never see who said what: nothing is shown until at least 3 people have answered, a theme needs at least 2 people pointing the same way, and comments appear only once 5 or more people have answered — mixed together, filtered, with email addresses, phone numbers, links and @handles removed. You can hide any comment. We record the day of an answer, not the exact time.
• Limiting repeat answers. We keep a random identifier in the invited person’s browser and a one-way, salted hash of their network address — not the address itself.
• If an invited person asks for their own link by email. We send that one email and keep only a redacted form of the address (for example a***@example.com). No newsletters.

Social Mirror answers stay attached to your report so you can revisit it. Emails are sent through our email provider, Amazon Simple Email Service.

First-party measurement

Our own server records simple events about how people use the site — for example a page view, a question answered (which question, not your answer), checkout started, purchase completed, an invite opened or answered — linked to a random session identifier and to the campaign details in the link you arrived from (such as utm parameters, an experiment label, or an invite code). These records never contain your answers, your email, or your name, stay on our servers, and are used only to understand which content and invitations bring people to Honest Mirror and where the site can be improved.

30-day missions and Day-30 retake (optional)

If you use the 30-day program, we store which missions you started and completed, when, and what you record after each one: the options you pick, 1–5 ratings, and an optional note of up to 500 characters. This is stored with your pseudonymous report record and shown back to you on your report; missions do not change your Honest Score. If you take the Day-30 retake, your new answers and the new report are stored the same way as the original, so the two can be compared.

In your browser

We use browser localStorage to save your assessment progress on your own device. Your in-progress draft is removed from your browser when you submit or choose "Start over". Some report-progress entries remain until you clear your browser data. If you arrived through one of our own posts or links, we also store a short tag naming that post — and, when present in the link, the campaign/ad details behind it — used only to understand which of our content brings visitors. This stays in your browser's local storage only; it is never a cookie and is never sent to any other company by your browser. If you opened a Social Mirror invite, your browser also keeps that invite’s code and a random identifier so the same person cannot answer twice. We do not use cookies.

No tracking

We use no third-party analytics providers, advertising, or tracking scripts in your browser, and our pages ask search engines not to index them. Our own server keeps the first-party measurement records described below. Separately, our server may tell Meta when you reach a key step on our site — opening a page, starting the assessment, reaching the preview, starting checkout, and completing a purchase — so we can measure whether our own advertising is working. Each of those messages carries a random event identifier and, only if you arrived through one of our own Meta ads, that ad's click identifier. A purchase message also includes the purchase amount and currency and, when available, a one-way cryptographic hash of the email address you already gave Stripe to complete your purchase — never the plaintext address. We never send your name, phone number, physical address, assessment answers, Honest Score, or report content to Meta. These are server-to-server messages, not something your browser sends.

Sharing

Data leaves our systems only as described above for Stripe, plus, when enabled, funnel-step and purchase messages to Meta — a random event identifier, and for a purchase the amount, currency and a hashed (never plaintext) version of your checkout email when available, and, only for ad-attributed visits, that ad's click identifier; never your name, phone, address, assessment answers, Honest Score, or report content — sent from our server, never your browser, so we can measure whether our own advertising is working, plus the network infrastructure required to serve the site.

Retention and deletion

A final data-retention policy is still being finalized. Today, stored records are not automatically deleted. To request deletion of your data, contact support@honestmirror.ai — deletion requests are processed manually. Step-by-step instructions: Data deletion.

Visitors do not sign in to Honest Mirror with Facebook, Instagram or any other account, and we do not receive data from your Facebook or Instagram account.

Age

Honest Mirror is available only to adults 21 or older.
